本書按粵語人學習普通話的發音難點分為十組，每組按詞語組合的搭配不同再分小類。
每組包括的詞語由70多個至200多個不等，全書共收錄約1000詞，全部來源於國家普通話水平測試大綱中限定的詞表，令本書能同時切合應試的需要，包括國家語委普通話水平測試、香港考評局普通話水平測試、教師語文能力評核普通話科和香港中學會考普通話科。
