4.5 Stars for Seth book 2 in The Casella Cousins Series. Kathryn Shay is fairly new to me but with each book I pick up I find myself getting more and more engrossed and captivated by her writing, her characters and her small towns. I always feel like I’m going home to visit my family and friends with each book I have read. Seth may be a quick read but don’t be fooled by that, this is still a entertaining, captivating read. Seth Casella and Julianne Ford has a history but when they need to work together they find the sparks haven’t died, there is still a lot of sizzling chemistry between them but can they come to terms with the past and move on with the future..... This book is an entertaining read, it certainly has all the feels you want and expect in a great read and I’m really looking forward to hearing the rest if The Casella Cousins stories.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it. This story was a little hard for me to read especially after it was revealed what Seth’s dark secret it. What I liked the most, was the fact that this book made me really feel for Julianne Ford. What Seth put her through really would have been a no go if it were me. This book was such an emotional roller-coaster ride for me. The author did a fabulous job in keeping me glued to my e-reader. The second (really more like the fourth or fifth) chance at a first love was wonderfully written. The plot flowed beautifully. Little pieces of the characters’ history was just enough that it kept me intrigued along with the other mystery and intrigue of the plot. There were several threads it the story that were such an added bonus. Like would John Cordello get the two foster kids? Julianne is a music therapist. She is a busy lady. She teaches at a school; she has her own music business plus she tutors. She has done some on-line dating but her heart still breaks for Seth. Seth was stabbed in the prior book (Hayley). He works as a lawyer at a non-profit organization, Legal-Aid. He is currently living with his mother while he recuperated from his injuries. Unfortunately his mother lives right next door to Julianne. He asks Julianne to drive him to an appointment since his doctor’s orders don’t permit it. When they get back, Julianne discovers her house has been broken into. The mystery of who, what and why surround the B&E and make for a gripping story. The story was one that kept me glue to my e-reader. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story especially as it was written in a multiple POV format. I adored seeing prior characters making appearance here. This is a sexy read without being erotica. I would highly recommend this book to anyone over the age of 18. While you can read this as a stand-alone, I would highly recommend starting with “Take Me Back (Hidden Cove Firefighters Book 9). That really introduces the Casella family and the cousins.

In this second book of the Casella cousins we get Seth Casella’s story. Seth is a legal aid attorney recovering from a stabbing . A man who is dedicated to aiding those in need and whom his family can’t understand why he and his on and off again girlfriend are once again off. Julianne Ford is a music therapy teacher and literally the girl next door. She and Seth have been friends since childhood and each others “love of their lives”. But Seth has hurt Julianne one too many times. In the midst of the struggles of these two, there is also a mystery on who is responsible for actions against Julianne. As always, the author gives us an engaging story with characters that have imperfections. This story is no exception. The subject matter will not be one everyone will be willing to overlook. I am definitely one that would not have given Seth a chance and truly wanted to give him a piece of my mind. But each individual reacts differently. In this case trust and forgiveness need to go hand in hand. Can Julianne trust and forgive Seth? Will Seth truly change his ways? Once again, another thought provoking story written by this talented author. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
