His arrival is a surprise to the newlyweds, but Dan is the one most shocked when a young man, who looks exactly like Mason—Dan and Jack’s deceased brother—is in attendance.
Before he can find answers, a cigarette break is in order, and he heads to a shady area to hide his weakness. After lighting up, Dan, a veterinarian recovering from a devastating forest fire, discovers a German Shepard dog locked inside a hot car. A man can only take so much, and he loses it, seeing the dog in danger.
Clara is used to aggressive men, but that’s only part of why she keeps her dog, Kristof, close by. When Dan comes charging into the kitchen, threatening her with the police, she backs down and hands over the cake decorations to her assistant. She’s kept Kristof safe this long, but it’s becoming increasingly difficult now that her ex-boyfriend Gary has shown up looking for the dog.
Dan has no choice but to come to the aid of this damsel in distress, particularly where he ruined her creative wedding cake and, potentially, the wedding day. His rapid-fire plan sounds good to everyone except him—for how can he save Clara when he’s wrecked himself?

After exploring numerous careers over the years, I finally found my true loves and spend my days balancing the two. When the words refuse to flow, I simply leash up a dog and head into the woods for inspiration. It exists among the rich flora and fauna, waiting to leap into fertile ground.
When I’m not writing or caring for any furred or feathered friend willing to share their time, I reluctantly garden, enjoy practicing yoga, and spend time with humans.
