Lord Kelvin (Professor William Thomson) explains electric transients in June 1853 (due to his interest in Michael Faraday's 'lines of force' vs action through empty space). This is relevant to the work of Nikola Tesla (Also see Charles Proteus Steinmetz and his calculation of electric transients). A must read for anyone interested.
