An addictive and twisty psychological thriller about the dark secrets that lie within a peaceful neighbourhood.

You are cordially invited to “The Dinner Party”. Unfortunately there will be no after dinner mints, just murder! I was immediately drawn to The Dinner Party by the cover and then when I read the blurb, I knew that this book would be right up my alley. I was not disappointed. The Dinner Party has it all and is the perfect read if you are a fan of the psychological thriller genre. Richard has created a tightly woven fast paced plot that sees Ted along with his with Juliette, host the dinner party from hell! All starts out ok, but after the wine flows freely and inhibitions are shed, a game of trust is played and things take a dire turn when the next day two of the guests are found dead! What follows is a tale with more twists and turns than any daytime soap opera! I was on the edge of my seat racing through the pages to see how it would all unfold. There are a few characters in the story to keep you on your toes, but interestingly the story is told through one narrator. I have found with some books I have read that this doesn’t always work but Richard has taken this risk and nails it! He also expertly plants the seed of just how well you really know a person. While I didn’t find all the characters likeable, they have been written extremely well in the role that they play. I enjoyed Richards style. It is smooth, expressive and flows really well. I was engaged right from the get go and at times it was hard to pull myself away from it. I liked how I was kept guessing throughout and when I thought I had it all figured out, Richard teases you by throwing in curve balls that takes you into a completely different direction. When all was revealed it had me flawed as I did not see it coming. That’s what makes this book great. A new author to me, Richard is definitely now on my radar and I look forward to reading more books from him. The Dinner Party is a fast paced, addictive psychological thriller that was a pleasure to read and review. I highly recommend this book.
