About this ebook

Meet Odd Thomas, the unassuming young hero of Dean Koontz’s dazzling New York Times bestseller, a gallant sentinel at the crossroads of life and death who offers up his heart in these pages and will forever capture yours.

“The dead don’t talk. I don’t know why.” But they do try to communicate, with a short-order cook in a small desert town serving as their reluctant confidant. Sometimes the silent souls who seek out Odd want justice. Occasionally their otherworldly tips help him prevent a crime. But this time it’s different.

A stranger comes to Pico Mundo, accompanied by a horde of hyena-like shades who herald an imminent catastrophe. Aided by his soul mate, Stormy Llewellyn, and an unlikely community of allies that includes the King of Rock ’n’ Roll, Odd will race against time to thwart the gathering evil. His account of these shattering hours, in which past and present, fate and destiny, converge, is a testament by which to live—an unforgettable fable for our time destined to rank among Dean Koontz’s most enduring works.

You might think I am making an editorial comment about a person by calling Mr Thomas "Odd". Rather, the name of the book by Dean Koontz is Odd Thomas and follows a set of events in the life on a young man of 21 who's given first name is in fact "Odd". Yep, he goes by the nickname Oddy.

In this unabridged audio book, Koontz (as usual) richly describes in great depth the characters. He always seems to create rather unique people (remember "The Face"?) with strange problems. So why is Odd odd? Well, he sees dead people (OK, not like the kid in the movie). Let's just say he sees, ah ghosts and other assorted things that are associated with dead or soon-to-be-dead people (hint hint about the book!). Rich characters and deep descriptions on the local environment of Pico Mundo all leading to a rather major event.

Is it a must read? I'd say yes. Did I like it? Yep. In fact, my next audio book is "Forever Odd" (by Koontz) which picks up with Oddy about a year after the previous book ends. Sorry for the spoiler, Oddy does live thru the end of Odd Thomas, but, then again, you could guess that he does.
Extremely hard to put down. Quite enjoyable. Waiting to read more of his books. Hate that his love Stormy died. I was caught off guard. Thought the book would end with a very good love life , for them. Great book.

The best Dean Koontz novel since Watchers. Do yourself a favor and read this book. The movie was good, but can't compare to my own imagination. Koontz is a Master of suspense. I never regret reading his books. Well worth your time.
