I love to read & was always excited when a novel was signed in school, but I had a really though time with this one. If it were not for Cliffs Notes, I would have miserably failed that unit instead of my usual "A". I used the study sheets, hunted out the answers ,& memorized in my own words & made it through. This is the ONLY book I ever felt like I hated!

Truth is, the story of A Tale of Two Cities, while it's famous, is certainly not Charles Dickens' best work. It does, however, create a strong feeling of care for the characters and Darnay himself seems like a strong role model for a young reader or two.

When in 8th grade, something you don't want to get stuck doing is reading this. It's a classic, but it's boring and incredibly hard to follow. So to all the teachers out there who actually care about their students, don't assign this.
