1. Asking for Directions
Brad and Shelley are in New York City. They’re looking for a building where a scene from the movie The Avengers was shot.
S=Shelley B=Brad P=Passerby
S: I can’t wait to see the building that the S.H.I.E.L.D. plane crashed into!
B: Neither can I, but we’ll have to find it first. Let’s ask for directions.
S: Excuse me. We’re looking for 101 Park Avenue. Can you tell us how to get there?
P: Do you mean that tall black building?
S: Yes, that’s the one.
P: Just walk straight for two blocks. Then turn left. After one block, turn left again and walk straight. You’ll see the building on your right.
B: Thanks!
2. Taking Pictures
Brad and Shelley arrive at the building they were looking for. They want to take some photos.
B=Brad S=Shelley W=Woman
B: Wow! The building looks even bigger in real life.
S: Let’s take some selfies.
B: But the camera needs to be farther back if we want to capture the building.
S: I’ll ask that lady over there if she can help. (To a passerby)u Pardon me, but could you take a picture of us with this building?
W: Sure . . . Say “cheese.”
B, S: Cheese!
S: That looks great. Thank you so much!
3. Sending Postcards
Brad and Shelley are at a post office.
S=Shelley C=Clerk B=Brad
S: Hi. We would like to send six postcards to Taiwan. How much is the postage?
C: International postage is $1.15 per postcard, so the total is $6.90.
S: OK. Here’s a twenty.
C: And here’s $13.10, your change.
B: What should we do with the cards when we’re done?
C: You can drop the postcards in the mailbox outside the post office.
B: Thanks for your help.
4. Ordering Food
Brad and Shelley are inside a restaurant, looking at the menu.
W=Waiter B=Brad S=Shelley
W: Ready to order?
B: Not quite. Can you tell me what your specialties are?
W: I’d recommend the beef burger, which comes with a pickle and fries.
B: Sounds good. I’ll order that.
W: And for you, miss?
S: Would you recommend the grilled chicken salad or the ham sandwich?
W: Both are good. Do you feel like having a salad or a sandwich?
S: I think I’m in the mood for a sandwich. And please give us two iced teas.
W: Coming right up.

路人：只要往前直走兩個街區。然後左轉。過了一個街區再左轉，然後直走。你就會看到那棟建築物在你的右手邊。
布萊德：謝謝！
2. Taking Pictures 拍照
布萊德和雪莉到了他們要找的建築物。他們想要拍一些照片。
布萊德：哇！這棟建築物在現實生活中看起來更大。
雪莉：我們來拍些自拍照吧。
布萊德：但如果我們想要拍到建築物的話，相機需要拿更遠一點。
雪莉：我來問問那邊那位小姐是否能夠幫忙。（對一名路人）不好意思，可以請妳幫我們跟這棟建築物拍張照嗎？
女子：好啊……來說「起士」。
布萊德、雪莉： 起士！
雪莉：拍得很好。非常謝謝妳！
3. Sending Postcards 寄明信片
布萊德和雪莉在郵局。
雪莉：你好。我們想要寄六張明信片到台灣。郵資多少錢呢？
郵局人員：每張明信片的國際郵資是一點一五美元，所以一共是六點九美元。
雪莉：好的。這裡是二十塊。
郵局人員：這是找妳的零錢，十三點一塊。
布萊德：我們卡片寫完後應該怎麼做？
郵局人員：你可以把明信片丟進郵局外面的郵筒裡。
布萊德：謝謝你的協助。
4. Ordering Food 點餐
布萊德和雪莉在餐廳裡看著菜單。
服務生：準備好要點餐了嗎？
布萊德：還沒。你可以告訴我你們的特色菜是什麼嗎？
服務生：我會推薦牛肉漢堡，有附酸黃瓜和薯條。
布萊德：聽起來不錯。我就點那個。
服務生：小姐妳呢？
雪莉：你會推薦烤雞肉沙拉還是火腿三明治？
服務生：兩個都很好。妳想吃沙拉還是三明治？
雪莉：我想我點三明治好了。還有請給我們兩杯冰茶。
服務生：馬上來。
