About this ebook

This nail-biting series from USA Today Best Selling author AJ Scudiere will have you on the edge of your seat. The NightShade series walks the edge between crime fiction and thrillers, so be prepared to stay up all night.

Your favorite series takes a new twist. Walter and GJ have the opportunity of a lifetime: become FBI agents. But once you’re in NightShade, the secrets start coming out…

Marine Veteran turned Private Investigator, Walter Reed, has been given yet another strange and amazing opportunity: to become an agent with the FBI’s NightShade division. Though confident her training will make Quantico a cake walk—even with only one leg—Walter is discovering her shot at a new career has disaster written all over it. Her first hurdle? Walter doesn’t graduate training if her new partner GJ Janson doesn’t graduate, too…

After previously being arrested by the FBI, GJ Janson hopes to redeem herself with the chance to become an agent. Unfortunately, her snooping around her grandfather’s laboratory reveals he’s been hiding strange skeletons—with strikingly similar anomalies to those she notices in her friend Donovan. When a weekend visit to her grandfather’s lab yields a fresh body, GJ goes into investigation mode.

But the body is that of a fellow NightShade agent, and Walter and GJ quickly realize that nothing in NightShade is what it seems—not the case, the other agents, nor even their job descriptions. Only one thing is clear: the killer is coming after them next. And they suspect it’s someone GJ knows.

Salvage is the fifth book in the NightShade Forensic FBI Files series by USA Today bestselling author A.J. Scudiere. This book can be read as a standalone, but readers who love paranormal investigations and FBI thrillers will want to read the entire series! Perfect for fans of Jeffrey Deaver, Dot Hutchinson, and LT Vargus & Tim McBain.

A. J. Scudiere books are the best. Her stories are well written, intelligent and full of interesting new information. Her books are super addictive. You can't stop at one. The characters are wonderful and charming. I find most of them relatable and would love to sit down with them to get to know them more. Especially Grand Mere. I know I will continue to read her books. I have a new favorite author.

After reading the last Nightshade Files book my main critique was that I was disappointed in the lack of Walter and GJ in the story. I’ve come to learn that Scudiere does this sort of thing on purpose, though, and surprise - Salvage centers on Walter and GJ! Scudiere’s best quality as a writer, to me, is her character development. Going through this storyline side-by-side with Walter and GJ as they were becoming Nightshade agents I felt stressed, nervous, happy, daring, frustrated, scared, devastated, and satisfied (not necessarily all in that order) right along with them. GJ’s personal growth was the most captivating part of the story for me; I enjoyed her transformation throughout the book! As for the story line Scudiere intertwines science, current events, some history, and a little more science into a story about the supernatural to make it feel a lot more plausible than you expected it to. I wondered where the story would go after the last book, and this exceeded my already high expectations. This is my favorite book so far in the series!

I am kind of ticked off that this book is just a teaser with only 18 pages! I've been reading the series voraciously and thought I was opening the next in the series. What the heck?!
