About this ebook

A New York Times bestseller for three years and counting!

“A gutsy, candid, and compelling story. It speaks volumes.” —School Library Journal (starred review)
“Unflinching and realistic.” —Kirkus Reviews (starred review)

From award-winning author Sharon Draper comes a story that will forever change how we all look at anyone with a disability, perfect for fans of RJ Palacio’s Wonder.

Eleven-year-old Melody is not like most people. She can’t walk. She can’t talk. She can’t write. All because she has cerebral palsy. But she also has a photographic memory; she can remember every detail of everything she has ever experienced. She’s the smartest kid in her whole school, but NO ONE knows it. Most people—her teachers, her doctors, her classmates—dismiss her as mentally challenged because she can’t tell them otherwise. But Melody refuses to be defined by her disability. And she’s determined to let everyone know it…somehow.

Out of My Mind, is an extraordinary story about an Eleven-year old named Melody who suffers from cerebral palsy and this is the story of her life as she lives through it. Melody is not exactly like everyone else, she can't talk, walk or write but when something extraordinary happens her life changes forever.

Never thought much of it but I know what it's like. When I was a kid I went out of my mind because I was never called on and always over looked then finally I got a chance. This book was almost like my life. But now I'm living my life like people should live a normal life . Great book.

Honestly, I wish there was more to the ending. Melody's friends turn on her, they don't win, the ending was all basically depressing. Especially because she ended the book say she had never said a word her whole life.
