About this ebook

From New York Times bestselling author Mira Grant comes a vision of a decade in the future, where humanity thrives in the absence of sickness and disease.

We owe our good health to a humble parasite — a genetically engineered tapeworm developed by the pioneering SymboGen Corporation. When implanted, the Intestinal Bodyguard worm protects us from illness, boosts our immune system — even secretes designer drugs. It's been successful beyond the scientists' wildest dreams. Now, years on, almost every human being has a SymboGen tapeworm living within them.

But these parasites are getting restless. They want their own lives . . . and will do anything to get them.

"A riveting near-future medical thriller that reads like the genetically-engineered love child of Robin Cook and Michael Crichton." —John Joseph Adams

I love science fiction, zombies, and horror. This may in-fact attribute to some bias in my review, but I believe the easy-to-read style of this book may appeal to a much larger audience. Without giving anything away; the character development was just right, the tension set was brilliant, and the "truth" was obvious. Honestly I believe that was the point; for a monster to be in such denial is almost too human, it makes you wonder what differentiates a "person" from a "monster" if not the sum of ones choices

I started this book after really enjoying the Newsflesh series. You can guess a couple of plot points early on and you can see some similarities between the worlds that Grant has crafted in each series; but that is not a disappointment because they are enjoyable to learn about and become enveloped by. Definitely will recommend it to others!

I cannot wait to read the second book. I could barely put this one down. Getting yelled at during work cause my face was buried in my phone just reading and reading. I love zombies and I love this spin on the genre the best!
