While I have enjoyed every Don Winslow book, The Winter of Frankie Machine is probably my favorite. The journey of a flawed but good man, trying to escape and his past and *pay it forward" with his commuity and those he cares about. Throw in the San Diego surf scene, aging Gumbas and well-placed flashbacks to "the life", and this one really resonated with me.

The winter of frankie machine is a fantastic book that I couldn't stop reading. Great writing made me feel as if I were dealing with mobsters myself.

Frankie Machine, the myth, the man, the legend....once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. Classic Winslow for sure.
