I read at least 25 romance novels each year and have never given a 5 star rating before reading this gem. Excellently written with creative character development, multiple plot twists, and vivid descriptions. I used at least half a box of tissues! True romance...sans typical steamy sex scenes.

Great read, I had trouble putting it down. The story is set in post-Civil War New York and is compelling in its approach to how one soldier is dealing, or rather running from, the ghosts of war that haunt him. Throw in a woman in an unconventional role, jealousy, broken promises, grief, forbidden passions, and lives healed and you have a great read. Can't wait to read the rest of the series.

From the first word I was intranced with the story I couldn't stop reading, I read this book in one day and the whole time my stomach was in knots of anticipation. I loved this book from being to end it was totally worth the few hours of the emotional roller coaster I went on .
