About this ebook

Maleeka suffers every day from the taunts of the other kids in her class. If they're not getting at her about her homemade clothes or her good grades, it's about her dark, black skin.
When a new teacher, whose face is blotched with a startling white patch, starts at their school, Maleeka can see there is bound to be trouble for her too. But the new teacher's attitude surprises Maleeka. Miss Saunders loves the skin she's in. Can Maleeka learn to do the same?

This book is is a good example for kids that are treated and made fun of because they are different but to tell you the truth i really thought that this book catch the real life of some people that suffer like Malleka did in this story but to say that your a crazy and different will hurt your feelings but i really like this book and i think you might like this book if you like school situations, friends situation and last but not least problem to be a African American teenage girl that does crazy stations. (This is the one of the best book i ever read!!!!)

This book deals with a teenage girl who is discovering what it means to know, and be comfortable with who you are. It is well written but in an informal way through the perspective of a 13 year old girl from a rough neighborhood. Flake draws the reader into the main character's life and lets us experience her pain and triumphs along with her.

This book was very interesting, when I picked it up I got sucked into it, I couldn't stop reading. To me the book was more about bulling than racism. The only thing that could of made the book better was if the ending was a little more extended and detailed. The book really gave me a feel of what it would be like to be in her skin.
