About this ebook

This book is unique among books on forgiveness. In addition to being Christian, it is based on a very solid foundation of clinical and social psychology. Based on 26 years of teaching and clinical practice, it condenses some of the best insights into reader-friendly prose, using case examples to illustrate primary points. Forgiveness, like apple pie, is something most people want more of, but few know how to achieve genuinely. This book will provide fresh ideas on how to appropriate more of his psychologically powerful commodity to a discouraged world. It's time we let forgiveness out of church and psychology out of the laboratory and clinic. I hope my book does both. -- Dr. John Berecz Though written for a general audience, this book will also appeal to pastors, pastoral counselors, social workers, physicians, nurses, and any in the helping professions who approach their work from a Christian perspective. John Berecz, Ph.D., ABPP, earned a master's degree in Counseling Psychology from the American University in Washington, D.C., and his Ph.D. from Indiana University, where his research on smoking cessation won recognition from the American Institute for Research. Since 1971 Dr. Berecz has conducted research and taught psychology at Andrews University, where he is a professor of psychology. He maintains a private practice in clinical psychology and has been a consultant for hospitals and nuclear power plants. In 1979 the American Board of Professional Psychology certified him for advanced competency in Clinical Psychology and in 1994 elected him a Fellow of the Academy Board of Professional Psychology -- the highest level of his profession. Dr. Berecz has previously published a book on Tourette's Syndrome and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders as well as numerous professional articles and religious essays. His wife Deborah is a partner in a law firm specializing in mediation and family law.
