This is book one in The Moonlight Ridge Series and it is Mack and Molly's story and omg what a great start to a new series. Mack and Molly have a past history together that didn't end very well and now Mack is back home because of his father's illness and he will also have to face her again which he was not really looking forward to. I absolutely loved this book with all its twists and turns along the way and I couldn't put it down as the characters and storyline pulled you in right from the start and it was a real page turner and so addictive. This is a second chance romance that takes you on Molly and Mack's journey but will they get a happy ending this time of are they destined to be apart especially how Mack broke Molly's heart when he just left her year's ago and of course Molly has her own secrets that she needs to keep but with the connection and chemistry between them still as strong as ever will it work out for them when all is revealed. How's Wood is an amazing author and writer and I definitely recommend you read this book and others by her and you will not be disappointed as she certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention and on the edge of their seats. I quite enjoyed my initial visit to Moonlight Ridge with Homecoming Heartbreaker . I love the setup for the entire series and look forward to seeing how these brothers, and their dad, end up ensnared by just the right woman. ;) Homecoming Heartbreaker focuses on Mack, the oldest Holloway brother, and Molly Haskell, the girl he left behind. With Mack's dad being ill, he's back to run the business (a luxury resort) for a while. He's determined to clear the air with Molly so they can move on, leave the past in the past, and work together amicably (she stayed on a Moonlight Ridge and is an integral part of the business.) However, Mack's willpower to stay away from Molly is tested almost immediately. What Worked: *Plot I was instantly invested in the characters. I admired that Papa Holloway adopted 3 boys - all POC - and gave them love as well as taught them to love. Circumstances and certain events led these boys off track but they still love their dad. Therefore, with their dad falling ill, they're all coming back to pitch in. And if they each find love, a reason to come back together and stay? All the better. *Characters Mack has become a successful businessman, working in craft beer and gastro-pubs. Molly worked her way through business school and has ensured her place at Moonlight Ridge. They've had little interaction after an event forced Mack to leave 15 years ago, without an explanation, but when they're in close contact the air sizzles with their chemistry. It shouldn't be so hard to set things right with Moonlight Ridge OR between them. I enjoyed the interactions and the banter between these two as well as learning of their past together. Papa Holloway and his meddling added to the fun. What Could Have Worked Better: *Angst Yep. Angst. As in, there wasn't enough of it. LOL I would have liked a bit more angst, a little more back and forth. More of a battle. Mack and Molly were so adamant they wouldn't fall back into each other's arms. Yet they did - which wasn't unexpected - but they did so rather quickly and easily. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

It’s the perfect time for second chances when Mack Holloway returns home to take care of his father and the upscale vacation resort his father owns, putting him in touching distance of manager Molly Haskell – the only woman he’s ever loved, and the woman he chose to leave behind… When you pick up Homecoming Heartbreaker, you’re in for an adventure. The first of a trilogy set around the Moonlight Ridge resort – formerly an escape for the rich and famous, but somewhat in need of an update as the story opens—the book is a great introduction to the world, characters, and overarching storylines of the trilogy. Mack and Molly’s history is intense, and both have scars and regrets, and as they rediscover each other and fall back in love with each other, it’s impossible to not fall in love with them along the way. Their romance is twined in a few external plot elements and other, series-related, developing relationships, which just deepen the story. The story works as a Desire novel, as a series opener, and as a romance, and is all-around a solid, fun, emotionally engaging read. I loved visiting with Mack and Molly and hope to see more of them in the remaining books in the trilogy. The Moonlight Ridge series is definitely one Desire readers should take a look at, and Homecoming Heartbreaker is a great read to start things off!
