Not his best work by any stretch. But, being career military I, as usual, found the story plausible and fairly well thought out. I find it odd that other readers see so little believability in Clancys work but those readers tend to be from the civilian world so I guess that's to be expected.

The author takes waaay too long to tell the story. The action takes forever to start and then, before you have time to enjoy it, the book ends. Poorly written, in my opinion. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this book.

When one goes tired from astronomy, airsoft, and scale modelling, during a rainy evening, nothing more enjoyable than reading a Tom Clancy literary work. Yes his stories are lengthy, and this is where you build the skill of reading fast but not leaving details behind. Sometimes upon finishing a Tom Clancy novel, it leaves you feeling profound. Pondering about what you have read. Sometimes for hours Only people with short attention spans and limited levels of IQ would not appreciate the buildup of the story however long it is. If Tom Clancy's works are too long for you, i think you are better off reading garbage like whatever number shades of gray.

About the author

A little more than thirty years ago Tom Clancy was a Maryland insurance broker with a passion for naval history. Years before, he had been an English major at Baltimore’s Loyola College and had always dreamed of writing a novel. His first effort, The Hunt for Red October—the first of the phenomenally successful Jack Ryan novels—sold briskly as a result of rave reviews, then catapulted onto the New York Times bestseller list after President Reagan pronounced it “the perfect yarn.” From that day forward, Clancy established himself as an undisputed master at blending exceptional realism and authenticity, intricate plotting, and razor-sharp suspense. He passed away in October 2013.
