I am genuinely surprised and pleased with this manga so far. In just the first volume, there is intrigue, drama, world building, and romance without feeling too rushed or awkward. For the BL genre, it's often difficult to find one with equal or more parts story than romance. While I wouldn't call this romance a "slow-burn" it tags quite a few milestones to get to it, making it satisfying for the story-loving readers. The world of the story itself is also very unique and curious, giving lots of detail but it pushes more mystery as well as the volume winds down. I'm happy to see a more story-driven BL, though BLs with the supernatural/fantasy/sci-fi tend to have more story than slice of life, high-school romance. I look forward to volume 2.
