Amazingly alluring, heartwarming story of a couple's intensely passionate love that overcame a shift in their life's plans while they were married for convenience!

4.25 To save her home and keep her two younger siblings safe, Louisa Evans must turn to the head of the family that ruined hers. Nicholas Manning, the Marquis of Overlea is starting to show signs of having inherited the same illness that killed his father and older brother. To prevent the marquisate from falling into the hands of his unscrupulous cousin Edward, Overlea must secure an heir before that illness also claims him. When Edward Manning threatens Louisa with either paying a large rent, becoming his mistress or being evicted she turns to Nicholas. Nicholas sees the answer to his predicament marry the practical, yet desperate, Miss Evans and hold Louisa to her promise to provide him with an heir. A well written well paced book that I found hard to put down. There was a marriage of convenience & Nicholas wanted an unusual stipulation after he wedding but the more he came to know Louisa the harder it became for him to abide by his request. The characters had plenty of depth & I look forward to Kerrick & Catherine having their story. Not the longest of books but there was plenty packed between the covers to keep me happily engrossed.

Determining a possible cause for Nicholas' mysterious illness occurred to me early on. Though the "Who" seemed obvious it wasn't until the closing chapter that the true villain was revealed. I liked Louisa's competence and compassion. Characters appeared genuine.
