About this ebook

Gone Girl meets The Perks of Being a Wallflower in this critically-acclaimed novel about resilience, forgiveness, love, and second chances.

I live in a world without magic or miracles. A place where there are no clairvoyants or shapeshifters, no angels or superhuman boys to save you. A place where people die and music disintegrates and things suck. I am pressed so hard against the earth by the weight of reality that some days I wonder how I am still able to lift my feet to walk.

Two and a half years after an unspeakable tragedy left her a shadow of the girl she once was, Nastya Kashnikov moves to a new town determined to keep her dark past hidden and hold everyone at a distance. But her plans only last so long before she finds herself inexplicably drawn to the one person as isolated as herself: Josh Bennett.

Joshā€™s story is no secret. Every person he loves has been taken from his life until, at seventeen years old, there is no one left. When your name is synonymous with death, everyone tends to give you your space. Everyone except Nastya who wonā€™t go away until sheā€™s insinuated herself into every aspect of his life. But as the undeniable pull between them intensifies, he starts to wonder if he will ever learn the secrets sheā€™s been hidingā€”or if he even wants to.

The Sea of Tranquility is a rich, intense, and brilliantly imagined story about a lonely boy, an emotionally fragile girl, and the miraĀcle of second chances.

I really enjoyed this book. It was unclear to me whether Nastya (main character) was alive or a ghost for the first few chapters. She is in fact alive/human, but died for 90 seconds after an abusive attack, and was revived afterwards. The inevitable love story is slow building and some details of it seem odd, maybe a bit unexplainable and even unrealistic; however, when you get to the very last sentence on the last page of the book, it all ties together.

This book is one of the only things I've read more than once. Typically, I don't like to read something that I already know the ending of. However, it's so gripping! It gives me a million ways to interpret the information. This is a book I think should be discussed in high school or college. It should be a required read for psychologists! It's just...amazing.

Worth every page and run on sentence! I loved her obsession with names... pretty much answers that age old question of what's in a name? It may start a little slow, but the conclusion to their love story is all the closure you need =)
