This is book two in the Hawthorne House series, even though it is a stand alone book you will miss the history of characters if you do not read the first one, The Noble Masquerade, first. However you will enjoy this one if you do not read them in order. Lady Georgina has some secrets she wants to remain that way, she feels she must find a suitable husband before her secret is out. When the handsome, Colin McRae, seems to always help her out is he going to be her down fall or will he be her salvation? There are a couple of different stories going on at the same time throughout this novel, which is probably caring out people you meet in the first book. The author does a great job developing her characters and their dialogue. I loved the many exchanges between Georgina and Colin. They both have secrets of their own and at times you are not sure what to think of them. I was given an ARC copy of this novel from net galley for my honest opinion.

I hated Georgina in the first book, but after 15 pages I felt like her best friend in all the world. I conpletely empathized with her and wanted her to succeed. I felt like her hopes and dreams were my own and just as desperate for everything to work out perfectly like she had been planning for years. Such a complex character. Only an amazing writer could have pulled this off!

I absolutely loved A Noble Masquerade, but this book made me fall in love with Georgina and it was exciting to read her point of view from part of Miranda and Rylands situation. Love this Author and the beautiful books she's written! !
