About this ebook

After nearly half a century; after their deaths, the lifelong saga of the relationship between MLK and his cherished brother A.D. King comes to light. They were sons, they were brothers. They were husbands. They were fathers. They were leaders. They played together, they preached together, they marched together. They dreamed together. They cried together, they prayed together. And they rejoiced together. Deep from the heartfelt memories of Mrs. Naomi Ruth Barber King comes a love story. This is a love story of a modern day Boaz and Ruth. It is a love story of brothers who lived and died for a dream. It is a legacy love story. It is a love for family and community. It is a love of a God who so loved the world that he gave His Only Begotten Son; a love that two brothers lived and died for; still daring to believe.

About the author

Born in Dothan, Alabama in 1932, Mrs. Naomi Ruth Barber King was destined to become a woman of quiet dignity, strength and support to her husband, her family and the communities around her. She is the wife of Rev. A. D. King, Sr., brother to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Because she walks in the grace and distinction remindful of her beloved butterflies, she has acquired the noted title of the “Butterfly Queen.” Like the butterfly, Mrs. King brings beauty and joy to everyone around her. Colorful and talented, she uses her creativity to handle life’s most difficult tasks; and manages to put those near her at ease in the process. “Jesus is my anchor, and I praise God for His love and blessings,” she often proclaims. Naomi considers her ultimate calling has always been that of wife, mother, and First Lady. With the support and guidance of “Daddy King,” she married AD and they began their family. They would parent five children, and together become the “quiet support” of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; a leader of the Civil Rights Movement of the 20th Century. Today, Mrs. King is a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, relative, friend, comfort and bright light to those in the church and communities she serves. Naomi is the inspiration of the documentary project AD King: Brother to the Dreamer. She is an author who speaks out on important issues of the day.
