One of the worst film books I have ever read, Stuckmann writes as if he is trying to meet a deadline or has something better to do. He will devote an entire page to one film, but only three small paragraphs to another. He also picks films that everyone has seen, taking the easy route instead of picking films that people may not have seen which would allow him to tell us about other films. This is a lazily written book that film fans will hate and the general public won't care about. There are countless other film books about these same fifty films that do a better job at convincing you they are great than this trash fire of a book.

Great book! You can tell that Chris is passionate about every film he talks about, as well as film in general. He speaks with intelligence and love for the material. Great intro to modern film!

About the author

Chris Stuckmann was tremendously inspired by Roger Ebert. It was through him that he learned that an opinion on a film was a universal concept. There was no right or wrong, there was simply, your thoughts. Through his television reviews with Gene Siskel, Stuckmann discovered the idea of a debate on a film, but a respectful one. It wasn’t until his twenties that Stuckmann discovered reviewing movies on YouTube. From the very beginning he fell in love with it. YouTube critics and reviews have gone from a small group of “video bloggers” to a respected way of discussing film. Some YouTube reviewers are even recognized as press, and Rotten Tomatoes has opened the door for a handful of them to be certified. As a result of all this, Chris Stuckmann has created a brand of recognizable and respected videos.
