About this ebook

NOW A NETFLIX ORIGINAL SERIES

Like bad smells, uninvited weekend guests or very old eggs, there are some things that ought to be avoided.

Snicket's saga about the charming, intelligent, and grossly unlucky Baudelaire orphans continues to alarm its distressed and suspicious fans the world over. The tenth book in this outrageous publishing effort features more than the usual dose of distressing details, such as snow gnats, an organised troupe of youngsters, an evil villain with a dastardly plan, a secret headquarters and some dangerous antics you should not try at home. With the weather turning colder, this is one chilling book you would be better off without.

First book of the new year and new journal, wasn't sure what book I wanted it to be, thought maybe it should be an Asimov but just wasn't into reading that right now. Nor do I want to start the trend of always starting a journal with an Asimov. Stirling had shown some interest in this series, the first movie was released this xmas (badly done?). So it seemed a good time to get the series for him. He read this book on xmas day and I did on Jan 1st. Snicket (can't really be his name) keeps tells us that this is a sad book and to put it down if you want a happy book. Stirling laughed out loud at times, I didn't find it at all funny (Stirling is 14 at this time). The style was different the author often breaks in and reminds you he is narrating the story. He also likes to use "harder" words and then gives the definition, "the word 'blanched' here means 'boiled'." Like the Harry Potter books I was frustrated that the children did not tell adults what was really going on - even when they were able to easily. The character Mr. Poe the man who is executor for the dead parents was an awful guardian, only when the villain Count Olaf almost got the money and said he would withdraw the money from Mr. Poe's bank did Mr. Poe become active. Also the idea that the baby, would be kept in a bird cage with her mouth taped up for 36 hours is awlful. Her siblings let her stay that way, just patting her on her head from time to time. Guess this series isn't for adults who over think everything. 1-2005

This book starts off with violet and klaus plumeting down the mountain. Violet stops the caravan and they climb up the mountain in search of sunny. They after a few unfortunate surcumstances they end up in a cave where they meet a kind stranger. He is Quigley. They figure out where sunny is and do everything in their power to rescue her. During all this a small romance is shown with Violet and Quigley. And finally sunny can do things for herself. Klaus is not extremely inportant in this book but if you read book 12 and 13 he is inportant. If you have read the whole seires then read the following VFD stands for volenteer fire department. There is no surviving parent. And Beatrice who is mentioned in the books is the orphans mother who lemony snicket was in love with. And most inportant count olaf was once in love with kit snicket who ends up dying in child birth. Those are the secrets of Seiries of Unfortuante Events. With all due respect, Lemony Snicket

This was not one of the best books in the series but not bad either. My heart did race somewhat in this book for some steps were taken to find out the mystery of the Baudilaire parents past. Leaving you feeling somewhat spooked. Don't read any of these before bed. -Crum
