I liked that the couple were willing to disregard the constraints of society to follow their hearts and I especially appreciated that he was willing to tell her she was being pig-headed when she was. Both knew the social consequences of their decisions but were willing to pay it. Good story. The characters were appealing and believable, the plot interestingly twisty and despite the shallowness of the secondaries, the tale was appealing enough that I was able to forget it. Bowlin writes an interesting quick read with the guaranteed HEA. I've read 3 or 4 others she wrote and enjoyed them all. Her historical details are usually spot on- no zippers on the hero's pants- and by and large she chooses the correct homonym and doesn't butcher either the grammar or the punctuation. Granted, I haven't found the stories to be deliciously convoluted, significantly insightful on the nature of humanity or deserving of respectful contemplation but I don't read them for that. I read them because they are a delightful way to pass a couple of hours when I don't want to go out. If all you want is a good historical romance, Chastity Bowlin is your author!

Stunning story of fated and wanted love that only materialised after a string of unfortunate events occurred, but their true love took the chance to be together steadfastly!

I like this because the FL finds her strength to stand up to society and the labels they like to put on woman especially back in those times!
