About this ebook

Sincerely, The Duke is the second novel in the historical romance Say I Do trilogy about dukes needing to wed to tap into their wealth by New York Times bestselling author Amelia Grey.

Miss Edwina Fine has one shot at finding a husband before the ton learns her secret. With red hair, green eyes and being one of triplets, she knows the superstitions and rumors about women like her. So when a marriage proposal from the Duke of Stonerick arrives by mail, Edwina jumps at the chance to solve her problems. But nothing could prepare her for the attraction that sparks between them when they finally meet. It will take more than Edwina’s wit to navigate her past, reservations about marriage and the passion that ignites within her for the irresistible duke.

Rick, Duke of Stonerick, enjoys his life exactly as it is: honing his expert marksmanship, playing cards and fencing with his friends. He even enjoys exchanging affectionate humor with his mother about his lack of matrimonial engagement. But when a recurring illness reminds Rick he has no heir, he picks a name from the list of prospects his mother presents and writes a simple marriage proposal. Then he forgets about it—until that very lady with an iron will and breathtaking bravery shows up at his doorstep, ready to accept. Edwina tempts him like no other and suddenly, marriage doesn’t seem much of an inconvenience after all. But will keeping his illness a secret cost him her love?

Sweet romance with unusual historic themes Rick impulsively pens a proposal to one of the ladies on his mother's list of potential brides, never thinking that it would actually be delivered. Edwina has no idea who Rick is or why he sent her a proposal, but her promise to her dying father propels her to accept on the spot. Only she has to explain to him first why she thinks he proposed to her. A bit of a comedy of errors ensues, all while Edwina is trying to balance her irrational obsession with her sisters' uncooperating choices, and Rick is trying to figure out why he is frequently suffering from debilitating bouts of fever and how that affects the future of his title and estate. Throw in a fair bit of superstitions about redheads and multiple births, and we get a story that tackles unique issues while still delivering an emotionally heart warming romance. I really enjoyed the way both main characters were open and direct with each other, about most things, and when the secrets came out they faced them head on. I love stories that start with a "practical" approach to marriage that soon turns into a deep and abiding love, and this one beautifully accomplishes that goal. It's a delightful follow-up to the wonderful first book, and I heartily recommend it for anyone who loves reading historical romances. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Needing an heir, duke Rick proposes to Edwina by mail. She seizes the opportunity as her last chance to marry. Their encounter ignites an undeniable attraction—but as passion intensifies, Rick’s secret threatens to jeopardize their growing love. This book is a lot of fun. I love the author’s light-hearted style. I wish the stakes in the book had been higher, but it was an enjoyable read nonetheless. Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
