NEW CORPSE IN TOWN (Secret Seal Isle Mysteries Book 1) SUSPENSE-DRAMA-MYSTERY Cookie James left her FBI job due to circumstances beyond her control; escaping the clutches of a crime family is no easy task. Moving to Secret Seal Isle with her mom and purchasing the only Inn on the Isle was the perfect hiding place to start a new life. When a dead body is found by her mom practically on the doorstep of the Inn she jumps at the chance to call her ex-FBI partner Hunter to come help her investigate the crime. Seeing Hunter has her questioning her move to Secret Seal. Hunter and Dylan clash as they battle for Cookie’s attention every time they are together. Cookie must decide what she really wants to do with the new life she has created for herself and who is the man she is willing to give her heart to. FANTASTIC start to a new mystery series. The author automatically lures you into the story with breathtaking scene descriptions. The characters are engaging and witty dialogue, action, humor and a bit of family drama keep you intrigued till the end. I adored all the characters and Cookie definitely is full of sass as she is able to control the two alpha males interested in her. I found this to be a most entertaining read and I loved it. I eagerly await the next part in this captivating series and am truly interested to see who ends up securing the heart of Cookie James. If you treasure intriguing mysteries this is a wonderful addition to your library. {I was gifted this book and this is my honest review.} In the world of mystery romance, the possibilities are endless and always fascinating. Without reservations, I recommend this book.

I received this from one of the author's that are writing in this shared pen name for an honest review. I have to say that I was skeptical about reading the story. I am not a fan of mystery or suspense genre. It did take me a while to get into the book. However, it had nothing to do with how it was written. I really enjoy both of the authors that are writing as Lucy Quinn and really enjoyed the book once I was able to get into it. It was a little slow going at the start and I personally wanted something to happen quickly. I finally got some steamy sexual tension from a couple people in the book. Plus there was a lot of humor in the book that I would have missed if it wasn't in it. Cookie seems to be missing her old life but is actually moving forward by the end of the book. We find out some of why she went to Secret Seal Isle in the first place. Not enough for my liking but I enjoy knowing everything up front about main characters since I emotionally invest in them. I enjoyed the thought process that she has while working a case and also running her business. She is a no-nonsense kind of person but with a wicked sense of humor. Rain, Cookie’s mom, is a hoot! I personally wish there was more of her in the book but since it is a starter for the series I am ok with not seeing a lot of her because she does seem to be a lot to handle. I would recommend checking this out if you enjoy Deanna Chase and V. Vaughn books because it is a perfect balance of them both. It is available at all retail outlets.

Most women would be happy with one hot guy after her--not Cookie. She has two, count them, one very handy handyman, and two, a hot, dark FBI ex-partner. She and her mom came to the little hideaway island to hide away from some bad guys after her. She sure didn't expect her first week as proprietor of a little bed and breakfast to include a dead body in the water behind her inn. The practically nonexistent police force of one ignores the situation calling it an accident without even investigating. What can she do but call in her former partner, Hunter? Hot and has always wanted her, he shows up and they partner again. Question is, how much partnering will they do? Just before Hunter showed up, she and her handyman, Dylan, were contemplating how handy they'd like to be. Now, what? Both men are scorching hot, great guys, and not at all happy the other one is in the picture. It has a good mystery, lots of sexual tension, some great humor and memorable characters. What more could you want? As for me, I'd like more of Ms. Quinn's work. Can't wait for another book. I was provided an ARC for an honest review.
