鬼谷子，戰國時代隱士。據傳有四大弟子：龐涓、孫臏（孫蒙）、張儀、蘇秦。龐涓官至魏國大將，孫臏為齊國軍師，張儀為秦國宰相，蘇秦佩戴六國相印。每一個都是非常傑出的人物。由此可見其神祕之處。《鬼谷子》為其傳世之作。
