About this ebook

Bound by Desire

Lukas Hawkins, the second son of the troubled House of Trent, is on a mission: find his missing mother and her alleged kidnapper, a brute named Roger Morton. If bringing the villain to justice means breaking a few laws, then so be it. But when he encounters a mysterious stranger with the face of an angel and a body made for sin, Luke suddenly finds his task-and his heart-in peril.

Emma Curtis knows of Lord Lukas's rakish reputation-and hopes to use it to her advantage. While most men of honor would never travel alone with an unmarried woman, Luke is quite willing to take Emma on the road . . . and into his bed. As their journey carries them to unexpected places, Luke and Emma indulge their every passion and share their most private fantasies. But just when their deepest desires are finally within reach, a secret is revealed that threatens to end their love forever . . .

Sadly, I can't fully recommend this book. There are some elements I liked; in particular, how the heroine, Emma, helps the hero, Luke, fight his demons. I also liked Luke's relationship with Bertram. But there are elements I found very off-putting: 1. Why is this book formatted so strangely? Everything is left justified, with no proper paragraph breaks. I tried to get used to it, but it was challenging. 2. Why is Luke the only one searching for his mother? Is no one else in the family all that concerned? Why hasn't Scotland Yard been contacted, or at least detectives assigned? She is a duchess, after all. 3. Why did Luke choose such a poor form of conveyance for the beginning of their trip? It almost seemed like he was sabotaging it. 4. Finally, i like steamy scenes as much as the next reader, but these were too explicit for my enjoyment, and at the end they seemed strangely timed. Also, most of these scenes involve Emma being bound and passive. Not my thing at all. Maybe others' cup of tea.

Quite the unexpected adventure! And quite the erotic historical romance...like, holy smokes, these pages were practically on fire! I enjoyed the characters and reading how they evolved, which Luke and Emma both did throughout the course of the book. I really felt for Luke, as he battled demons he had been fighting for most of his life. He was certainly tortured and tended ti push people away of they got too close, but Emma snuck in there and helped him fight those demons. Luke, in turn, helped Emma gain some self-confidence. And a whole new definition of "bed sport." That seemed to be the prevalent theme in this book, along with the couple's hunt for revenge. All in all, I did like reading it, and I met others who I assume have their own stories, such as Luke's brother, The Duke of Trent (his story sounds VERY interesting!), and I'm looking forward to reading more books by Jennifer! (I borrowed this eBook from my local library)

About the author

As a child, Jennifer Haymore traveled the South Pacific with her family on their homebuilt sailboat. The months spent on the sometimes quiet, sometimes raging seas sparked her love of adventure and grand romance. Since then, she's earned degrees in computer science and education and held various jobs ranging from bookselling to teaching inner-city children to acting, but she's never stopped writing.

You can find Jennifer in Southern California trying to talk her husband into yet another trip to England, helping her three children with homework while brainstorming a new five-minute dinner menu, or crouched in a corner of the local bookstore writing her next novel.
