Laurence has second chance romances down to an absolutely unforgettable art. This novel is simultaneously comical and heartbreaking. There were a couple of times that I was actually laughing and crying at the same time. It’s also 100% unique, original, and captivating. Laurence captured me heart & soul with this one. Her eloquent storytelling combined with the imaginatively vivid descriptions brought this world to life in a big way. Laurence’s writing evokes emotions in both the characters and the reader. Not only is the story heartfelt, but the characters are unforgettable. We met these two briefly in the 1st novel in the series but they really come into their own here. Both are well developed, strong, multidimensional individuals who easily carry this story forward. This personal hang-ups combined with their combined histories makes for some explosive scenes. They are the type of individuals that I could easily identify with and truly wanted to get to know. This was a fantastic, unique novel that is a brilliant read as part of Laurence’s new series or as a standalone. I would highly recommend it to all lovers of romance.
