John R. Morris is a California native, born in the western shadow of the San Bernardino Mountains. He grew up a sportsman, surfing, skiing, rock climbing and motorcycling.
When indoors, science fiction and fantasy stories were an essential staple of entertainment. He dabbled in writing through several jobs that included stocking grocery shelves, selling coffee, launching an IT consulting business with fellow author and friend, Will Greenway, and eventually working as a systems administrator for an international brokerage company.
Throughout that time, he focused on publishing short stories. His story, Collision Course, was accepted to the MiraCosta Tidepools Anthology and used in writing classes at MiraCosta Community College.
In 2008, John and a few other veteran writers created the Spring Valley Writers Group. The members subsequently persuaded him to leave his short stories behind and focus on becoming a novelist. He followed their advice, and his debut novel, The King's Steel, was released in 2022.
John lives in the Chula Vista suburb of San Diego with his wife and pets. Although he's an avid WOW gamer in a high-ranked raiding guild, his greatest joy comes from his three precious grandchildren...Katherine, Elizabeth, and Timothy.
