Ratings and reviews

A series of short horror stories that have a tendency to end right when you become invested into the story. Like many of this type of book there are some stories that hit the mark and some that miss it. What I can appreciate is that many of these short stories have concepts that I have never read about before and that I can see myself reading full novels about. Worth your time if you need a book to read in between classes or shifts at work.

Mariana Enriquez is a writer and journalist based in Buenos Aires. She has published two story collections in English, Things We Lost in the Fire and The Dangers of Smoking in Bed, which was a finalist for the International Booker Prize, the Kirkus Prize, the Ray Bradbury Prize for Science Fiction, Fantasy & Speculative Fiction, and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize in Fiction.
