About this ebook

Continuing A.E. van Vogt's World of Null-A

In this heart-stopping sequel to A.E. van Vogt's World of Null-A, Gilbert Gosseyn, the superhuman amnesiac with a double brain, must pit his wits once more against the remorseless galactic dictator Enro the Red and the mysterious shadow-being known as The Follower. And he must do it while he is being hurled headlong through unimaginable distances in space, in time, and through alternate eternities to fend off the death and complete the rebirth of the Universe itself!

This may be the best book I have read all year: in the spirit of Van Vogt, but more subtle and better constructed than the original. At the same time, this more satisfactory conclusion of the series is making me appreciate the boldness and surreality of the original even more. The biggest difference is that Van Vogt has no characters, while Wright has them. At the same time, the bold touches, the combination of noir, galactic intrigue, and cosmogony (the latter absent from the original Null-A, but on the same level as in Van Vogt's other work) provide for a rewarding read on several levels.
