I was recommended this book cause I was looking to read a book set in a desert. however I found much more. I love the world, even though it's a short novella I didn't feel there being huge info dumps and could easily keep pace with what was going on. I liked the characters, especially the main character, a female dressed in a suit during a time when men didn't like that and she's sassy as all hell about it. I might very well have to dive into this entire series

A decent short story in the "alternative history" vein, overall rather clever, though perhaps hemmed in a bit by the short story form. Some unusual and inventive use of Middle Eastern folklore and culture.

Brilliant rolliking story. A new different yet familiar world. Love the character of the detective and others. Too short though. Left wanting more story and to learn more about the characters
