"To Sleep in a Sea of Stars" is a captivating space epic that kept me on the edge of my seat. Paolini's ability to craft a compelling narrative, coupled with the imaginative exploration of unknown worlds, makes this a must-read for anyone who enjoys a gripping sci-fi tale.

I enjoyed reading the Inheritance Cycle and so when I heard that Christopher Paolini was coming out with a new book, this time a science fiction one, I was really excited. To Sleep in a Sea of Stars is a very big book but it was really good! At the end, there are extra bits about the book and I thought it was cool that Christopher has been working on various versions of this book for many years. The details in it about space and the how space travel works really show that. This book had lots of technical bits (which were still pretty interesting) but there was also no shortage of action starting after Kira finds the alien monument and the mysterious xeno. There are sad bits (a bit heartbreaking really) but Kira proves to be a very strong character and she has good allies in the crew of the Wallfish and even Soft Blade (when they work things out). This story took several unexpected turns and I enjoyed them and this whole book! Do not be turned off by the size of this book. It is a fun adventure and I really would not mind if there was another book with Kira and her further journey to fix the past mistakes.

First things first: I do believe this is a good book. It is clear Paolini devoted a lot of time to research and that he came to understand the guiding principles of physics in space, which make this book not only entertaining, but also one that helps expand the reader’s mind and mindset. Additionally, I love the way it is structured, as it makes the story really easy to follow as the characters jump from system to system in the universe. That being said, I believe it’s longer than it needed to be; which causes it to not really maintain its pace and, therefore, become slow, dull or boring at times. Finally, while the setting is entirely different from that of the Inheritance Cycle, this is clearly a book by Paolini, and readers familiar with him will not miss his writing stile and certain type of characters he used before and does use again.
