About this ebook

"A heartbreakingly beautiful story about loss and the power of second chances." Mia Sheridan, New York Times bestselling author

"Heartbreaking and heartwarming... one of the best friends-to-lovers romances that I've read this year." Corrine Michaels, New York Times bestselling author

When you can't trust yourself, how can you ask anyone else to?

It's been months since Aden Colt left the Army, and still the memories haunt him. When he moved into a tiny boat off the California coast, he thought he'd found the perfect place to escape life. Then Sawyer shows up and turns his simple life upside down. Beautiful and sophisticated, she seems out of place in this laid-back beach town. Something is pushing her to experience everything she can-including Aden. But as much as he wants her, starting a relationship with Sawyer puts them both at risk. For Aden, the past doesn't stay there; it shows up unexpectedly, uncontrollably, and doesn't care whose life it wrecks.

***5 ‘You’re Branded Inside Me’ Stars*** The description alone lets you know that you are going to be in for an emotional gut punch, but the intensity of it all just surprised me, not that this was a bad thing because of that initial hit mellowed out I couldn’t wait to dive into their journey and what a ride it was. Talk about an emotional rollercoaster of a ride (I actually got teary and sniffly at certain moments) and I swear my heart bled throughout the entire book even as it felt as if a smile was permanently fixed on my face due to all the sweet, fun, heartwarming and smexy moments that kept me turning the pages until the very end. Sawyer was a mix bag for me, not because I didn’t like, hell I think I actually admired the hell out of her, but she did take a bit of time to get used to. One incident changed her entire future and made her fear instead of be fearless, but the funny thing about that is that the woman has a backbone made of titanium. Her strength and honesty coupled with a truly genuine heart made it easy to want to get to know and find out what made her tick. Aden’s been to hell and back and can’t seem to stop punishing himself for all that happened when he was there. Guilt weighs heavily on his shoulders, but his form of dealing is isolating himself as best he can so he can’t hurt those he loves. My heart hurt for the man and though I didn’t agree with his form of dealing, I understood it. He’s shattered and doesn’t want to take anyone else down with him and that knowledge made me love him. Underneath all of the walls he’s thrown up around himself is a good man with an amazing heart. So the why, way and Aden and Sawyer collide made for a very interesting, enjoyable and yet sitting at the edge of seat, biting my nails while waiting for the other shoe to drop situation. I’d go into it a lot more, but that would spoil the fun for everyone. So what I will say is that I loved how, despite their obvious differences, they were kindred souls who were open enough to recognize each other, even when their brains didn’t, that connection kept them coming back for more time and time again. I enjoyed how they got to know each other and loved how they helped to break the other out of the boxes they’d put themselves in. While I desperately wanted their journey to be smooth sailing because of all the other stuff they were dealing with, it wasn’t, but I gotta say I was pleasantly surprised at how it all got worked out. I thought it was well done and was true to who Aden and Sawyer had evolved into and that epilogue had me smiling and wanting more! There is a lot going on in this book, PTSD is just one of topics covered and it’s worth saying that there will be some out there that will had a difficult time with some scenes in the book. But I felt that they were handled with a lot of respect and that they were balanced out by the evolution of Aden and Sawyer’s relationship. There was just enough light to keep the darkness at bay while not skimping on the impact the dark had on the characters. The secondary characters were all well written and I loved the depth they brought to the story. I really wish their story didn’t end, but what was done beautifully and I can’t wait to see what Ms. Salsbury has up her sleeve for us next! ~ Copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley & voluntarily reviewed ~

Aden is haunted with the horrors of war and an act of betrayal that now not only troubles his dreams but takes over him mind. He drinks to forget and he uses women as an escape. His mental state is literally a wreck and right from the start the reader feels his pain and anguish. I seriously wanted to reach inside the book and give this man a hug. Sawyer life is not the most exciting, and she is okay with that. She plans out everything that she does and is not found of taking risks. Her twin sister, Celia is dying and her last request is for Sawyer to take on the task of packing up her cottage and bring her belongings back home. The only caveat is that Sawyer must pretend to be Celia and to have fun – not only to pretend to be Celia, but live life like Celia, wild and crazy and full of adventure. Oh, and Sawyer can’t tell Celia’s friends about the switch and about her dying. Surely, nothing can go wrong with that plan, right? Despite some near rocky moments, everything seems to be going quite smoothly right until the moment Sawyer and Aden meet. This, my dear reader is where the sparks fly and the chemistry between the two ignite into a huge inferno that these two souls never imagined could be possible. Being with Sawyer (a.k.a Celia) makes Aden forget the horrors of his past and he starts to feel alive again. Sawyer grounds him and he feels at piece when they are together. And being with Aden, Sawyer learns to not only find love, but learns to experience life by doing things outside her comfort zone. But there is that one big lie between them, Aden thinks that Sawyer is Celia and Sawyer is afraid of telling him the truth because of the past deceit in his life. Ms. Salsbury did it again! I became a fan with her novel Split, and I couldn’t imagine her writing anything better than that. Boy was a wrong! She has written as story that totally consumed me and created so many emotions within me. Wrecked is full of anguish and raw, heart-wrenching moments, but it is also full of a sense of hope that someone who has witnessed so much death, so much betrayal, and has so much guilt can once again find love and learn to forgive himself. Oh, and the hot sex didn’t hurt the story either – nope, not one little bit! This story is raw, gritty, and sexy, yet it’s also a story full of hope and love that can withstand even the darkest of storms. Ms. Salsbury’s style of writing is addicting and the story line tugs at your heart while the fascinating plot keeps everything moving smoothly and effortlessly. The characters she creates are realistic and I instantly connected with them, caring for them as if they were real people. I couldn’t put this book down and spent every single minute possible reading this heart-stopping story until the very last page was read. Not only was this a great story – it was simply INCREDIBLE! I am giving Wrecked a well-deserved 5-star rating and would definitely recommend it to all my friends because not only is it raw, sexy and emotional, it’s intriguing from the very first page to the very last.
