I wrote a phrase, the other day, on a graduation card “reach for the stars so that it can illuminate your potential.” As I scribed it across this bare card I wondered about the power of words and the potential these words could have upon the eyes of a believer. The energy in words takes form and life in the hearts of readers that believe in them. I remember the first time I was told that I have “a way with words.” It lit a light in the darkest corners of my mind, where my poetry hid from the eyes and ears of the people around me and I was changed forever by that simple phrase because I became a believer and I grounded myself in the poetic shoes I had so silently tiptoed in. I am forever grateful in the power of those words. Those words managed to eliminate the doubt that burdened my creative expression and bring them to the surface, illuminating my potential.
