A Cowboy Kind of Love is Book 6 of Donna Grant's Heart of Texas series. I was a bit hesitant to jump in since I had not yet read a single book in this series. Needless to say I followed along just fine although I plan to go back and catch up on the earlier stories when I get a chance. This story was a fast-paced, engaging romantic suspense and I enjoyed immensely. ARC received via NetGalley.

My opinions are my own and nothing has influenced my rating. A Cowboy Kind of Love is a well written western romance with engaging characters and an emotionally charged plot. The pacing pulled me into the story from the first page to the last. Ms. Grant adds greatly to the story with her suspenseful scenes! Taryn Tillman is the heroine in this tale. She hasn’t been back to Clearview since she took off five years ago. I enjoyed her character a great deal, even though I questioned several of her decisions. Jace Wilder is a great hero, and I quickly became vested in his character. He’s ex-military and hasn’t forgotten how to plan or how execute a covert operation. His loyalty and love for Taryn is amazing, even though I questioned why he was still carrying a torch for her after so many years with no contact. The romance between Taryn and Jace heats up fast, and they pick up where they left off. I enjoyed them as a couple, but I struggled with believing they both fell into each other’s arms so easily after five years. Jace gets over his anger and hurt very fast. Nonetheless, I did want them to find their happy ending. If you enjoy contemporary romances with a good bit of action and nail-biting suspense, then you will love A Cowboy Kind of Love as much as I did. I’ve enjoyed the Heart of Texas series. I've enjoyed all of the books I've read in Donna Grant's Heart of Texas series and this one was no exception. It was packed full of suspense and action. Jace Wilder is still dealing with the love of his life up and leaving him in the middle of the night five years ago without anything more than a text. He wants to move on, but is finding that hard to do without any closure. Taryn Hillman has been living a nightmare for the past five years. Now between a rock and a hard place, she heads back to her hometown and to the reunion with Jace she's dreamt of, but it won't necessarily be a happy one given the things she's dealing with. When Jace and his friends learn what Taryn is up against, they are all in to help her given their military background. Will they be able to get her out of the jam she's in without anyone she care's about losing their life? The story gave you plenty of suspense and edge of your seat scenes that made you want to know how it was going to play out, but it was well-balanced with romance as well. This was definitely an enjoyable read!
