《清史稿》是中華民國北京政府所設清史館纂修的清史未定稿，體例依照之前的正史，分紀、志、表、傳四部分。
民國三年（1914年），清史館設立，此後編修工作歷時十餘年。到1927年，主持纂修工作的清史館館長趙爾巽見全稿已經初步成形，擔心時局多變及自己時日無多，遂決定將各卷以《清史稿》的名稱刊行，以示其為未定本。因匆忙付梓，致使體例不一，繁簡失當。「然此書成稿於遺老之手，刊行於匆促之中，謬誤屢見，用時不免戒慎，唯恐誤入歧途。」[1]由於編修者多為清朝遺老，《清史稿》書中對清朝歌功頌德，貶低辛亥革命。國民政府北伐成功後，將《清史稿》定為禁書，禁止刊印及發售，後來解禁。
到目前為止，因尚無依中國傳統正史體例編寫的清史，加上《清史稿》本身史料豐富，其價值仍不可忽視。有的將其列入「二十五史」[2]或「二十六史」。
