Tiamat's Wrath may just be the best of the series, and finishing it has left a massive void in my life. What stands out most is character development. We've been with these characters for 7 books, and now that they're older and wizened, they've grown and changed so much. And we get to see even more shifts through the book. At first I hated the Roci crew growing older, but it allows the timeline and scope of the series to widen massively, and we get much more than just a pinhole glance into everyone's lives. It's beautiful. The new POV, Teresa Duarte, is another example of great character development and, at fourteen, is a perfect juxtaposition to our aging protagonists. Corey really raises the stakes in this one. We've far outgrown the dangers of the protomolecule. The TRUE threat is more real than ever, and the way it's implemented is so hair-raising and satisfying. Suspense of a looming threat is what roped me in in Book 1, and it has evolved and continues to sustain my interest.

Horrible ending. Now they will jet around the galaxy with a zombie that didnt complete his mission. If Amos had used the pocket nuke all would have been different. Bobby would not have had to died and Amos would not have had his head blown off. How is it mech droid bots can repair dead life back to normal? The brother and sister in the Pen cage and Amos were all post death mech bots repairs. Why not just let Amos die? Overall I liked the series. But introducing the miracle of the bots at the end just to wrap up a half baked ending was too much.

A flawless conclusion to the most phenomenal sci-fi series ever dreamt. The Expanse is the new benchark for the genre, and honestly, I'm hoping it both continues on with the storyline introduced in the epilogue, and inspires an explosion of creative writing that will follow in its space-rending wake. Truely a priceless masterwork!
