A Goodreads Hot Summer Mysteries

All her life, she’s been the girl who survived. Orphaned at age seven after a horrific killing spree at her family’s Oregon cabin, Kara McIntyre is still searching for some kind of normal. But now, twenty years later, the past has come thundering back. Her brother, Jonas, who was convicted of the murders has unexpectedly been released from prison. The press is in a frenzy again. And suddenly, Kara is receiving cryptic messages from her big sister, Marlie—who hasn’t been seen or heard from since that deadly Christmas Eve when she hid little Kara in a closet with a haunting, life-saving command: Don’t make a sound.

As people close to her start to die horrible deaths, Kara, who is slowly and surely unraveling, believes she is the killer’s ultimate target.

Kara survived once. But will she survive again? How many times can she be the girl who survived?

God almighty, lisa Jackson is better than this. It seems like a good stiry but she drags it out so much i put it away to read later. Where's the editor? Why use 20 words when 1 will do. Why drag out a scene till it becomes boring instead of taut? I gave 2 stars for the sory. I'm on page 54 and what I've read could be condensed into 2 chapters.

She was seven years old when her family was slaughtered. Kara is a grown woman now but still that scared little girl inside her keeps her from moving beyond what happened. Fear curdled her blood, but she pressed forward. Cleared her throat. Ignored the feeling that something dark and evil lurked within these old walls. Tate is a reporter who’s father dies saving Kara. He wants the story but he also wants to help her. This author is the master of creepy killers and making you look over your shoulder to see who’s watching. I have never once guessed the killer while reading one of her books and that is saying something. A page turning suspenseful adventure

This..was..hard to read. Not because it was so violent or gory, but because it was so boring. Absolutely nothing twisty or exciting. Pages upon pages of details that meant nothing to the storyline. I had to finish it because I'm not a quitter, but it was PAINFUL. Sorry Lisa.
