About this ebook

Many books have been written about Juan Ponce de Leon. Many of them fall short because not enough research has been done on the man's life, his ancestors and who his legitimate wife was. The author has spent over ten years researching within the Ministry of Culture Spain to retrieve documents and has come away with some new and exciting discoveries. This book has been written for the historian as well as the amateur genealogist. John Browne Ayes is an experienced Biogeographical DNA Genealogist and Paleographologist. He has had his yDNA and mtDNA tested and has used the scientific results to empower his research and discovery project which is his personal family genealogy.

A very fascinating book. Anyone interested in Ponce de Leon either historically or genealogically will find a treasury of new information. The book requires careful reading but the labor is well rewarded. If your search is genealogic, get this one and get ready for some surprises! While a knowledge of spanish is useful, it is not required.

Book reviews are important to an author. Especially if they come from someone who has purchased the book the author wrote. The review will speak for itself. Have a very good day! Ayes Customer Reviews Juan Ponce de Leon His New and Revised Genealogy Update: 06/14/2012 June 14, 2012 Dear Mr. Browne: I received on monday, one of your books “Juan Ponce de Leon his new and revised genealogy “ via Amazon. Congratulations. It’s an excellent book with many documented references and genealogies that will clear some errors that still exist in old books. The reason for this e-mail, is that for years I have being researching for my ancestors, and one of them is Antonio Ponce de Leon, natural de Castilla . He was established in Cuba and was Regidor y Alcalde ordinario de Bayamo a town in the province of Oriente. He married to Isabel Guevara de Ulloque about 1591 in Cuba. Until now, I have not been able to find out any connection with any of the Ponce de Leon’s documented genealogies in any books. I will like to ask you, if in your investigation, you have been able to find any reference of this Antonio?. Few years ago, when I purchased your electronic edition thru Lulu publishing Co., I was informed, that you had some information from his Italian line, but somehow we lost the connection, and was never able to get back to you. I will like to ask you, if you could share any genealogical information that you might have for this branch and how connects to Antonio Ponce de Leon. Please, let me know, and, if there is any cost involved. I will greatly appreciate for any information that you can provide. Sincerely, Jorge A. Flores Update: 03.12/2012 Hi Mr. Ayes, This is just a note to see if I have the correct e-mail address. I purchased your amazing book on Juan Ponce de Leon. I am from the Nichols Ponce de Leon line in the Floridas, and have a few questions, if you don't mind. Waiting your reply, Sally Viada Louisiana Updated 03/12/2012 Hi John, Hope youre doing OK, haven't contacted you in a while! I just wanted to let you know that last week I received a military file from the Archivo General Militar de Segovia for one of my great grandfathers, Don Atanasio Quadra. It includes a request for a marriage licsense for him and includes a Probaza or Pureza de Sangre of one of my great grandmothers, Maria Josef Quinones de Matos. In that Probanza theres evidence that she is a descendant of Don Antonio de los Reyes Correa, the famous Captain Correa from Arecibo. Researching Capt. Correa I found out that he was a descendant of Ponce de Leon. Now your book comes handy! I have to revisit your book. Vic Update: 01/24/2012 Hi John, Just got my copy of your book. My dear man this is not just a book but a College type "text book" that deserves to be merited and carried along with other Institutional Historical documents relative to learning facilities. Your book deserves to be used in Universities and the like. It should be promoted as such and should be the pride of Puerto Rico to have a man such as yourself to have the integrity that you have had and given thus to this book. I have only read the Introduction and like what I am reading thus far. I am going to do my part in introducing your book to my friends and colleages at work and family members. Hope your book will be nationally recognized as a historical book and gets the recognition that it deserves. Congratulations on a job well done. Your Cuz--Sonia Rodriguez MALDONADO! Update 09/24/2011 John - see attached document - I do have a copy of your book and have found it a great source. This is one area where my source documents give another genealogy - appreciate your views - btw, I too published a two volume set of my mother's Garriga family - but it was intented for our family and not as a source or research document like yours. Best regards, Joe
