About this ebook

Gerard Manley Hopkins, a British poet (1844 – 1889), remained almost unknown during his lifetime. His highly original and aesthetically superb poems remained unpublished for several decades. By 1930 he came to be acknowledged as one of the most original English poets. In the present work of her Ph.D thesis, Dr Lima Antony makes a comparative study of the aesthetic theory of Hopkins with ancient Indian poetics in a lucid style. The study illuminates the obscure theories of Hopkins in the light of Natyasastra and Rasa theory.
