There is no film adaptation that accurately captures the brightness and camaraderie of these 4 men who were once the 3 musketeers and one enemy - but became brothers in arms and co-conspirators...allies and friends until their last breaths. Set amidst a turbulent time in France, the Three Musketeers travel Europe and England, save queens and foil plots. An absolute favorite - the entire series.

Today's readers should take the time to do more than just immerse themselves in stories with which they can relate. This story is more than a "read"; it is timeless in its characterizations of heroes, villains, and what means to have "honor" in a given society. I say to any reader "suspend your disbelief" and let the story unfold...it is worth being read.

sometimes plodding, but it improved as it progressed the story. some shrewed insights into mankind that were well presented with a great turn of phrase.

French author extraordinaire Alexandre Dumas made his mark on European literature with his stories of dashing adventurers, most notably The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo. Starting out as a well-received playwright, Dumas found even greater success with his novels, which often featured fictional tales of real-life Gallic notables. Since his death in 1870, the works of Dumas have been adapted hundreds of times, particularly in countless cinematic incarnations.
