Regency Paranormal Gothic Romance - Re-Edited and Revised 17th Anniversary Edition

When the scandalously independent Isabel Drake refuses to marry the man her parents choose for her, they force her to take lessons on how to become a respectable lady. However, her new tutor makes her feel anything but proper. Although her attraction to Mr. Weston is instantaneous, he resolves to keep her in her place—even as his desires for her become unmistakable.

Things are not what they seem at Rothfield Park. With Mr. Weston’s arrival, there comes an abundance of restless spirits who insinuate themselves into her life. Quickly, Isabel loses her grasp on reality, not knowing who’s alive or dead. Time is running out, and Isabel must solve the ghostly mystery of the eerie night mist that surrounds the manor before it comes to claim everyone she holds dear—including her Mr. Weston.

Praise for Forget Me Not

"If you enjoyed books like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies or Mr. Darcy, Vampyre, then Forget Me Not should give you plenty of ghostly pleasure. If you’re a fan of television shows like The Ghost Whisperer or films like The Sixth Sense, you’ll also find more enjoyable modern spins on ghosts and the Gothic in these pages. After you finish Forget Me Not, I suspect you will want to read more of Michelle Pillow’s novels—fortunately, she has written plenty in both the romance and paranormal genres." Tyler Tichelaar, Ph.D. on The Gothic Wanderer

5 Stars! "Things that go bump in the night... ghosts of course and romance! Loved this book! Gave me my Jane Austen fix with attitude and paranormal thrills as well as hot romance- the perfect storm! It's like reading a ghost story by the fire... and feeling every chill and thrill!" - Reader

5 Stars! "Forget me Not was a beautifully written story. It's about two people from different times that are brought together by tragic events only to fall in-love with one another." Dawn M Dohey, Reader

"As a scholar of the classic Gothic novel of the nineteenth century, from time to time I like to read twenty-first century Gothic novels to see how well the seeds that Mrs. Radcliffe planted are flourishing. I’m happy to report that authors like Michelle Pillow are keeping the Gothic tradition alive and well by utilizing standard Gothic plot devices but making them their own as the Gothic evolves into something more spiritual and less terrifying than its originators may have first imagined." Tyler Tichelaar, Ph.D., The Gothic Wanderer, March 2017

Complex Regency Gothic I rarely associate Regency with Gothic. Most original Gothic authors were Victorian... some born perhaps in the Regency Era but not coming into adulthood and their writing prime until Victorian times. This made me curious when I saw this book on a book review site. I'm glad I chose it. In the introduction, the author states this is a reworked version of her first published novel, though it was not the first she wrote; rather, it was the 9th! This author has gone on to write around 100 books or so, and I find myself pleasantly surprised to see her talent so evident early in her career. While the book has a few bobbles here and there, the book is well written with a complex storyline and well-fleshed-out characters. It's got the Gothic prerequisites like a spooky manor house perhaps inhabited by ghosts, and even a fire took out some of it in its not-too-distant past, killing several people. I didn't care for the heroine much at first, as she came across as a rather spoiled brat. That did not improve quickly enough once the hero came on the scene. She did improve gradually, however, and she became more intriguing as the book wore on because of her central predicament that she is not aware of until near the end of the book. Personally, I figured it out nearly immediately (and wished it had taken me longer to figure out this crucial plot point.) There's also a mystery surrounding who precisely the hero is; the heroine takes him to be simply the tutor hired by her father, but we know he is not that... but who is he? I won't give anything away, as I believe you should read this book yourself if it sounds remotely intriguing to you, but it certainly has twists worthy of M. Night Shyamalan. I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Issie is the spoiled and beautiful eldest daughter of a viscount. She and her family have leased the supposedly haunted Rothfield Park. Her younger sister claims to have seen ghosts herself. Issie doesn't believe and offers to switch rooms. Her parents announce that they have arranged a marriage for her, but not to the man she has chosen. She takes off in a temper, riding her horse recklessly and taking a serious fall. When she wakes, she begins to see the ghosts also. The most disturbing is the demon knight who seems to be connected to a little girl. She meets the handsome Mr. Weston who she thinks is her new tutor and is visited by a local vicar, who is very comforting and doesn't scoff ot her ghost stories. That's all I will say, because I don't want to spoil the story for you. Ms. Pillow written a really gripping Gothic romance. The characters are realistic and interesting in an almost unbelievable situation. Issie and Weston's adventures are fraught with mystery, danger and intrigue leading to a satisfying and unexpected climax. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I received a copy for an honest review. Denial is a powerful thing but when you are a ghost it can be deadly. Isabel rarely follows the standards set before her by society, much to her parents dismay. However, when a wild ride turns into a terror, she is glad when she wakes up in bed, not remembering how she got there. Shortly thereafter, she meets her new tutor Dougal Weston. Little does she know not everything is as it seems and she is the key to save everyone. Michelle did an amazing job with this story. It is full of twists and turns; surprises you aren't expecting. The ending brought me to tears and I know I will be rereading this story again.
