Seit der Formierung von populären Kulturen ab Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts gehören auch Wissens- und Wissenschaftsformate zum festen Ensemble ihrer Formate, Produktionen, Serien und Figurenkonstellationen. Die Beiträge des Bandes diskutieren das Komplementärverhältnis von Wissen(schaft) und Wissen(schafts)popularisierung, ihre synergetischen Beziehungen und soziokulturellen Auswirkungen, die Eigenlogik sich wandelnder Medienformate und Präsentationsformen sowie ihre Einschreibung in den Prozess der Wissenskonstitution. Dabei fokussieren sie sich auf populärkulturelle Medialisierungen historischer Szenen des Wissens und der Wissenschaften zwischen dem späten 19. und frühen 21.
