Feyre survived Amarantha's clutches to return to the Spring Court – but at a steep cost. Though she now possesses the powers of the High Fae, her heart remains human, and it can't forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin's people.

Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, the mesmerising High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates his dark web of political games and tantalising promises, a greater evil looms – and she might be key to stopping it. I have really wanted to enjoy these books, but the main character is obnoxious without a single redeeming feature for me. Some of the writing is amazing but it somehow feels rushed, and the character's childishness and arrogance were unbearable. It also feels a little boringly predictable. Even her name pronunciation feels like an obvious punch in the face of a hint, which really wasn't necessary.

The depth of characters is slightly better than the last, but if I have to read the words "vulgar gesture" just one more time, I'm done. What does it even mean? Pulls me right out of the story every time. Imagine being in a fantasy-romance world on the brink of war, and every day the important heroes and heroines are exchanging "feral" grins and "vulgar" gestures. Cringe.

I feel a little cheated to be honest, most romances I tend to read over and over again and I just can't with this one because it's basically swapped the male lead completely with no care in the world for how re-reading will feel. going back to book 1 will feel like a slap in the face knowing that Tamlin basically becomes a different character in this book and gets shunted completely just to start a whole new romance woth a different male lead. it just feels weak to me when an author has to create a whole new romance just to keep the book interesting rather than building on the already established bond. I won't be continuing to read this book series as a result.
