本書（一冊一五八面九四、八○○字）凡十二卷，邵廷采撰。廷采字允斯，又字念魯；浙江餘姚諸生，述姚江之學。清康熙中，施琅將振旅臺灣，遇之西湖，相與縱談沿海要害；琅奇之，請與俱北；謝不行。後從遺老訪明亡故事，黃宗義授以「海外錄」、「行國錄」，作「東南紀事」；同邑張五慤從粵海歸，訪求遺聞，合以馮甦「見聞隨筆，作「西南紀事」（據姚達輯「邵念魯年譜」：念魯著「東南紀事」在康熙三十六年至三十七年，著「西南紀事」在二十八年）。或云二書草創未成，或云成即燬矣；實則兩書固在，至光緒閒始由邵武徐榦校刊行世。本書即由徐氏刊本排印，借遺其跋語。書為紀傳體，序列唐王聿鍵、魯王以海....以至鄭芝龍、鄭成功、鄭鴻逵，凡五十四篇。此外尚有楊廷麟等八篇有目無傳，註明「傳闕」。所遺徐跋，特為補繫於此。跋云：『餘姚邵念魯先生，康熙時人；距明季未遠，尚有一二耆老可資諮訪。又海內平一，故其見聞，亦非限於方隅者可比。撰「東南紀事」十二卷，以存魯王、唐王；「西南紀事」十二卷，以存桂王。辭尚體耍，無慚作者。借書未刻，僅鈔本流傳。往年馬端愍公撫浙，擬刻此書；懸千金求其本，不可得。榦幸得見之，遂刊諸梨棗』。其「西南紀事」，見第二六七種篇。（台大）
