About this ebook

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • ECPA BESTSELLER, GOLD AWARD—Over 500,000 copies sold! Fearless takes you deep into SEAL Team SIX, straight to the heart of one of its most legendary operators.

When Navy SEAL Adam Brown woke up on March 17, 2010, he didn’t know he would die that night in the Hindu Kush Mountains of Afghanistan—but he was ready: In a letter to his children, not meant to be seen unless the worst happened, he wrote, “I’m not afraid of anything that might happen to me on this earth, because I know no matter what, nothing can take my spirit from me.”

Long before Adam Brown became a member of the elite SEAL Team SIX—the counterterrorism unit that took down Osama bin Laden—he was a fun-loving country boy from Hot Springs, Arkansas, whose greatest goal had been to wear his high school’s football jersey. An undersized daredevil, prone to jumping off roofs into trees and off bridges into lakes, Adam was a kid who broke his own bones but would never break a
promise to his parents.

But after high school, Adam fell in with the wrong crowd, and his family watched as his appetite for risk dragged him into a downward spiral that eventually landed him in jail. Battling his inner demons on a last-chance road to redemption, Adam had one goal: to become the best of the best—a U.S. Navy SEAL.

An absorbing chronicle of heroism and humanity, Fearless presents an indelible portrait of a highly trained warrior who would enter a village with weapons in hand to hunt terrorists, only to come back the next day with an armload of shoes and meals for local children. It is a deeply personal, revealing glimpse inside the SEAL Team SIX brotherhood that also shows how these elite operators live out the rest of their lives, away from danger, as husbands, fathers, and friends.

Fearless is the story of a man of extremes, whose courage and determination was fueled by faith, family, and the love of a woman. It’s about a man who waged a war against his own worst impulses and persevered to reach the top tier of the U.S. military. Always the first to volunteer for the most dangerous assignments, Adam’s final act of bravery led to the ultimate sacrifice.

Adam Brown was a devoted man who was an unlikely hero but a true warrior, described by all who knew him as fearless.

Adam Brown was born on February 5, 1974, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and died a hero, a Navy SEAL Team Six member, on March 17, 2010, in the Hindu Kush mountains of Afghanistan. He left behind a wife, Kelley, whom he dearly loved, two treasured children, a ten year old son Nathan and a seven year old daughter Savanah, a mother and father, Janice and Larry Brown, an adored older brother Shawn and a twin sister, Manda. Adam also left behind a legacy of bravery, of overcoming great odds, for when Adam was just out of high school, he became hooked on drugs and nearly fell by the wayside. Childhood friends like Jeff Buschmann and Heath Vance stood by Adam as he battled his addiction and strove to meet the qualifications for joining the Navy and ultimately the Navy Seals. Adam's story is that of a boy who always pushed himself harder than was thought possible, and from his own money as a SEAL, he gave the children of Iraq and Afghanistan around him the food and the clothing that they needed. When he was a young boy, Adam stood up to bullies and as a Navy Seal he courageously stood up for his beliefs, making the ultimate sacrifice on that day in March 2010. "Fearless" is a brilliantly written biography of Navy SEAL Adam Brown who has highways and foundations in his name and even a television documentary made about his life. Adam had his faults and a terrible struggle against addiction that lasted for years. He suffered the loss of an eye and had his hand maimed in a Hummer accident, but he never lost his fearlessness. Warts and all, Adam Brown is a true American hero, the stuff of which legends are made and he is a legend to many people who knew him or just have heard of him. That it was his group of SEALS, Team Six, who were able to finally kill Osama bin Laden brings justice to Adam Brown's short life.

Written lovingly by Eric Blehm, whose own life was impacted by the writing of Adam Brown's heroic rise from the depths of drug addiction to become a member of the elite Navy Seal Team Six. As told by Adam's God-fearing parents, loving wife and the doomed brotherhood of fellow team members whose lives were changed by Adam's unwavering faith in God, family and country. If you read only one book in your life, read this one. That's how good it is. Only the life of Jesus Christ inspired me more.

This is the greatest book I've ever read. Adam defined what is possible through dauntless perserverence and focus with the hand of God and hard work. Adam Brown was a great man, father, son and ultimately one of the greatest warriors in US SOCOM history. This book not only shook me to my core, but helped me understand more about the war on terror and that it's so much more than the liberal media makes it out to be. As an American I will forever be grateful for Adam Brown and the humble men of DEVGRU.
