مر الإعلام الفلسطيني بالعديد من الحكومات والتقلبات، التي كثيراً ما سببت له العديد من الشروخ والانحدارات والتوقف والامتداد، تبعاً لنوع الحكم المسيطر عليه، فكانت البداية بالحكم العثماني، فالحكم الإنجليزي، تبعه صراع بين الفلسطينيين واليهود، إلى أن تم طرد الفلسطينيين من أرضهم إلى أرض الشتات والمنفى، فكانت تبعية السيطرة الإعلامية لكل من الحكم المصري في قطاع غزة، والحكم الإردني في الضفة الغربية الذي دام تسعة عشر عاماً، ثم تبعه الاحتلال الإسرائيلي للأراضي العربية المحتلة، الذي غيّب الإعلام الفلسطيني لمدة سبعة وعشرين عاماً
